Internet Safety Tips

It is very important for you to stay safe while on the Internet. Here are a few pointers to remember.

Always tell your parents what you're doing online. It's their job to keep you safe!

Tell your parents anytime you post something online or send an e-mail to someone you don't know.

Use only your log-in name and/or e-mail address when chatting, sending e-mail or posting something to a bulletin board. Never give anyone (no matter how nice they sound!) personal information like your name, address, or phone number.

Don't tell anyone your passwords, even your best friend! Your online service will never ask for them, so neither should anyone else.

Always delete e-mail from someone you don't know, especially if they have attachments. Never open an attachment unless you know the person was sending it to you. Attachments can be bad viruses that can mess up your computer!

People are not always as nice, cute, or funny as they may sound online. Never make plans to meet an online "friend" in person or even on the phone.
