Soccer Girl Party

Invite your girl's team over for a fun-filled afternoon of celebrating their favorite sport!

Here's a soccer-themed party complete with invitations, decorations and an easy craft. Three easy recipes will be fun to make and give the girls lots of energy for their next big match!

Not into soccer? No problem! Just purchase supplies featuring your daughter's favorite sport and adapt the projects below. In fact, you and your daughter will enjoy time together brainstorming ideas for adapting this soccer party into her favorite sport! You might just be impressed with the creative ideas she comes up with.

Soccer Girl Party

Team Invitation

Things You'll Need

  • Card stock: purple, black, white
  • Soccer ball print paper
  • Stickers*: soccer balls, grass
  • Scissors
  • Black fine-tip marker
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Paper trimmer (optional)
  • Glue stick
  • Computer with printer (optional)

*Frances Meyer Inc. grass stickers and Provo Craft soccer ball stickers were used for this project.

For card, cut a 6 1/2 x 4 1/4-inch rectangle from purple card stock.

Cut 4 1/2-inch triangle of soccer paper. Glue in bottom corner of purple rectangle.
Cut 1/2-inch strip of black paper. Glue along one edge of soccer paper. Trim even with edges of card.
Use marker to print soccer team's name on white card stock. Cut out and glue to black card stock. Trim, leaving 1/4-inch black border. Glue to front of card. Option: Use computer to print words.
Use marker to print party information on white card stock. Cut a rectangle around words and glue to purple card stock. Trim, leaving 1/4-inch purple border. Glue inside card.
Press grass and soccer ball stickers along bottom edge inside card.
Cut 2-inch square of purple card stock and 1/2-inch strip of black card stock. Glue purple square over black stripe in bottom corner of envelope. Press grass and soccer ball stickers to square.

Streamers & Cutouts

Things You'll Need

  • White card stock
  • Foam stamps*: soccer ball, swirly lines
  • Acrylic craft paints: black, purple
  • Paper clips
  • Sponges
  • Scissors
  • 1/8-inch round hole punch
  • Tacks or poster putty

*Rubber Stampede foam stamps were used for this project.

Using a sponge, dab black paint onto the ball stamp and purple paint onto the swirly stamp. Press stamps onto white card stock. Repeat as often as you want. Let dry.

Cut out around stamped designs. Use hole punch to make a hole near top edge of each cutout.

Thread a paper clip through each hole. Slide paper clip onto end of crepe-paper streamer. Hang streamers from walls, doorways or ceiling using tacks or poster putty.

Soccer Spoon Toppers

Things You'll Need

  • Purple card stock
  • Soccer ball stickers*
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Craft glue
  • Plastic spoon

*Provo Craft StickyPix soccer ball stickers were used for this project.

For Each Spoon:

Cut two 1 1/2-inch squares from purple card stock.

Press grass and soccer ball stickers on one square. Glue squares together back-to-back, sandwiching end of spoon handle between them.
 

Stamped Pillowcases

Things You'll Need

For each bag:

  • Waterproof tablecloth or plastic bags
  • Small brightly colored paper gift bag
  • Paper tissue
  • Brightly colored paper or card stock: pink, purple, turquoise, pink, yellow
  • Large (3-inch) daisy die cut* for each goody bag (optional)
  • 1-inch circle punch* (optional)
  • Black felt-tip marker
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

*These products were used in this project: Sizzix die-cutting machine and dies; Fiskars trimmer and scissors; Marvy Uchida punches.

Put cardboard inside pillowcase to keep paint from bleeding through.
Mix each color of paint with fabric-painting medium on foam plate.
Use sponge to put black paint on soccer ball stamp. Press soccer ball stamp along border of pillowcase. Stamp several soccer balls on scrap paper.
While paint dries, cut out stamped paper soccer balls, leaving a 1/4-inch border.
When paint is dry, cover stamped soccer balls on pillowcase with paper cutouts to protect them for step 6.

 

 

Use sponge to put purple paint on swirly stamp. Stamp swirls across border of pillowcase, over paper cutouts. Remove cutouts to reveal soccer balls underneath. Let dry.
Using fabric marker, write team member's name and number on pillowcase. Have guests autograph each others' pillowcases.
Remove cardboard from inside of pillowcase. Heat-set the paints, following the paint manufacturers' directions.
 

Soccer Volleyball

Use an inflatable soccer ball to play volleyball.

 

 

Dogs in Blankets

Things You'll Need

  • Hot dogs
  • Whole wheat bread
  • Cheese slices
  • Long toothpicks
  • Baking sheet lined with foil
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Rolling pin
  • Oven
  • Pot holders

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. While it is heating, cut crusts off bread. Roll bread flat with rolling pin. Set aside.

Boil hot dogs until plump. Drain off water.

Place a flattened bread slice on cutting board. Place cheese on top of bread. Lay cooked hot dog along one edge and roll up tightly in bread.

Hold bread in place with toothpicks. Place on foil-lined baking sheet.

Repeat with other hot dogs.

Bake for 10-15 minutes. Cheese should be bubbly and bread should be browned.

Remove the hot pan from oven using pot holders. Let cool slightly before serving.

 

 

Purple Milkshakes

Mix purple Kool-Aid with vanilla ice cream and milk in a blender.

Edible Clay

 

Things You'll Need

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) melted butter or margarine
  • 1 Tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 2 Tablespoons water
  • Bright crunchy snacks such as Fruity Pebbles, Fruit Loops, Trix, M&M's
  • Raisins, peanuts, candy bits
  • Coconut
  • Food coloring
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rubber scraper

Mix cake mix and melted butter in bowl. Add honey and water, or just water.

Use your hands to mix and knead dough until it's smooth and sticky.

Add food coloring to make different colors. Mix coloring with small amounts of dough.

Form creatures and objects by making balls, snakes or flat shapes. Add eyes and other decorations using some of the crunchy treats.
